AHMEDABAD: With the state on high alert following the receipt of intelligence inputs, police have intensified their vehicle checking efforts. Several special teams have been deployed on city roads.
Interestingly, after checking a vehicles, these cops are clicking pictures of the vehicle and its user. Cops said city police chief A K Singh has instructed them to click pictures and post them on a messaging group, as proof of their efforts.
These cops, armed with smartphones, were seen on the Sabarmati riverfront road, busy taking photographs of vehicles and their owners.
However, these special photography sessions have also led to confrontations between commuters and cops.
Singh said directions to intensify vehicle checking were issued, but no orders were given to take or post pictures.
Inspector M A Singh, who stood a little distance away when vehicles were being checked and photographed by her subordinates in the Sabarmati riverfront (West) police station, officially denied that any such directions were given to them. The inspector couldn’t say why her policemen were busy clicking photographs of vehicles and owners. tnn
