Ahmedabad: The opposition Congress held a dharna outside the mayor office on Thursday evening demanding the recovery of Rs 11.78 crore pending property tax from Adani-managed SVPI Airport and Adani Gas.
The Congressmen met mayor Kirit Parmar and submitted a memorandum. They later met revenue committee chairman Jainik Vakil. “The Congressmen were not aware that Adani Group has already paid Rs 22 crore tax dues to AMC,” Vakil told TOI.
He added, “In 2019, when the airport was taken over by the Adani Group, tax dues of the order of Rs 22 crore were recovered in January 2021.” Leader of opposition, in AMC, Shahzad Khan Pathan said, “The AMC does not spare those with Rs 5,000 tax dues but despite the due taxes running in crores AMC has not taken any action .” tnn
