College student turned vehicle thief

Gujarat University police arrested one Vikas Patel (20), a resident of Thaltej, for involvement in vehicle thefts and burglaries. According to GU police, Vikas was near AMA crossroads when he was stopped for checking.

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat University police arrested one Vikas Patel (20), a resident of Thaltej, for involvement in vehicle thefts and burglaries. According to GU police, Vikas was near AMA crossroads when he was stopped for checking.
Patel could not produce papers for the bike he was riding. He was detained on suspicion and during interrogation he revealed that he had stolen the bike.

He also confessed to stealing three bikes and had breaking into five houses in Sola and Vastrapur. Police recovered three bikes, two laptops, two mobile phones and a camera from him. Vikas, working at a call centre, is also a First Year external student.
He told police that he sold the stolen goods for friends and girl friends. He stole vehicles for getting quick money to maintain his lifestyle. Police is probing further in the case and trying to reach out other who bought stolen vehicles from the student.
