Board restricts CCTV access from outside exam centres
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) issued instructions on Friday to ensure that CCTV cameras installed at examination centres cannot be accessed from outside the premises during the ongoing Class 10 and 12 board examinations. All designated exam centres are equipped with CCTV systems, and authorities directed that monitoring must be conducted strictly from within the examination centre itself.According to sources, concerns were raised after it was found that, in some cases, school administrators and staff accessed live CCTV footage remotely through their mobile phones. This allowed them to monitor classroom activities from outside the school campus. While such access may be used for regular school management during the academic year, officials fear that it could pose a risk during board examinations, including the possibility of misuse or paper leaks.

To prevent any unauthorized access or misuse of footage, internet services at all examination centres in Ahmedabad city were reportedly temporarily suspended during the examination period. This measure ensures that administrators or any other individuals cannot view live footage from outside the centre.
The board emphasised that CCTV monitoring during examinations must be conducted only through the designated control room system. Additional precautions were also put in place to ensure that no unauthorized person can access exam-related footage.Officials stated that these steps are part of broader efforts to maintain transparency, prevent malpractice, and ensure the smooth and fair conduct of board examinations.
