jamnagar: the city police caught three boys studying in the jamnagar engineering college on charges of vehicle-theft and for stealing a video compact disc. according to sources, police inspector prakash mehra and sub-inspector dk bhoi from sabarmati police station were patrolling the prabodh raval bridge behind the rto on tuesday night when they spotted the three boys riding a suzuki samurai and a kinetic honda and detained them.

two of these boys -- jigar jayendra parikh (20), who stays in nava wadaj, and jatin jashwantrai vaghela (21), who stays in nirnaynagar -- are students of the jamnagar engineering college and they were accompanied by rakesh satishbhai someshwar (20) of vasna. when arrested, the three admitted to stealing the motorbike from navrangpura, and the kinetic honda from satellite, and then changing their licence plates. the boys then confessed that when in jamnagar they had registered themselves under false names in a video parlour and had flicked a vcd from there which was seized by the police. a case has been registered against them at sabarmati police station. imfl seized the vapi prohibition squad has seized two truckloads of indian made foreign liquor worth rs 29.31 lakh from dharampur road in the last seven days. the vapi prohibition station headed by inspector rc vaid intercepted a truck (wb 25 b 6875) containing 37,968 bottles of different brands of imfl brewed in daman and valued at rs 18.98 lakh. the driver balwinder singh bachchan singh, who stays at vadodara, and the conductor, bhajan singh jagir singh. those absconding in this case are imtiaz kalumiyan of bhimpor of daman, jaswant bhandari of pardi, rakesh nanubhai patel and ramesh kishan patel also from daman. on august 2, the squad seized another truck (hr q a 4319) containing 16,692 bottles of branded beer and gin valued at rs 15.33 lakh. the two trucks were also seized. woman missing: twenty-five-year-old arunaben rajubhai venkateshwar rao of goyal complex in vastrapur walked out of her home on july 13, and has still not returned. when she left home, arunaben was dressed in a blue shalwar-kameez.
