Ghatlodia police
on Wednesday arrested
Anand Desai of Guptanagar
in the
abetment of suicide case
of
Atul Khatri, 25, who had hanged himself at a rented premises in KK Nagar on April 18. According to his brother Sunil’s complaint, Atul worked with a pharmaceutical company in Ahmedabad.
After his death, his mobile phone was analyzed and his belongings were checked from which they found a number of messages, call records and a book of account in which multiple names were found. Investigations carried out on the basis of messages and call details led cops to one Anand Desai who had given a loan of Rs 30,000 to Khatri. “Khatri was unable to repay the amount lent to him at 30% per month rate of interest. Following this Anand had threatened Khatri of dire consequences and also sent his threat messages to repay the debt with interest,” said a police official.
Police sources said they are also probing the role of a few other persons who are suspected to be loan sharks and associated with Desai.
