Ahmedabad: Talati booked for wife's suicide
AHMEDABAD:
The accused has been identified as Hitesh Raval, a resident of Shrifal residency in Chandkheda. The victim has been identified as Bhavna Raval, a native of Surat. Bhavna had on Saturday afternoon hanged herself to death at her in- laws’ home in Chandkheda after which police registered a case of accidental death. Later, police inquired into the case and booked Hitesh for abatement to suicide.
Bhavna’s father, Kishor Bavaji, a retired bank employee, stated in his FIR with Chandkheda police that Bhavna had married Hiteh on March 8. Soon after their marriage, Hitesh and his family members started torturing her for dowry.
Hitesh used to harass Bhavna seeking Rs six lakh from her saying that he wanted to buy a new house. Recently, Bhavna had told her family members that she was beaten by Hitesh. On Saturday afternoon, Bavaji came to know that Bhavna had committed suicide by hanging herself. As police did not book her husband, family protested before Chandkheda police and the cops finally registered the case against Hitesh.
Police have sent Bhavna’s body for post-mortem and launched further investigation in the case.
