AHMEDABAD: City's Harshil Pathak excelled in the Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering (
GATE), securing 11th rank in the country. The result was declared on Friday. Another city boy Jay Oza ranked 16th. This year, 8.89 lakh students had appeared in the exam, out of which 16.84% cleared the test.
The GATE scores are used for admission in postgraduate engineering courses in prestigious colleges all over the country.
Last year, 9.84 lakh students had taken the exam. The decrease in the number of students appearing for the exam is being attributed to the introduction of Rs 750 exam fee for the girls which was earlier waived off.
