Ahmedabad: 2 held for rickshaw driver’s murder
Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad rural police arrested a 22-year-old and detained a minor in connection with a murder reported from the Kanbha police station area on Tuesday. On Tuesday, a man's body was found near a pond on the outskirts of Bilasiya village. The victim was identified as Arvind Rathod, a rickshaw driver.Police said the victim had injuries to the face and head, indicating an assault with a weapon. A case was registered at Kanbha police station under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 238(c) (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender).
The Local crime branch of Ahmedabad Rural police began an investigation, and CCTV footage from nearby areas was reviewed, vehicle movements were verified, and technical analysis and human intelligence were used to trace the suspect. Investigators tracked the missing rickshaw through the state's CCTV monitoring network at the Gandhinagar control room. Based on tip-offs and technical verification, police detained Chandulal Patel, a resident working at a construction site in Bilasiya village of Daskroi taluka. He belongs to Banswara district in Rajasthan.During questioning, police said the accused confessed to the crime and said two others, including the minor, were also part of it. Police said the incident followed an argument over a minor issue, after which the victim was allegedly assaulted. Police said Patel had hosted a liquor party with the other two accused and that the victim, who was known to them, was called to drop them home. "During the return trip, an argument broke out, and when the victim objected to their abuse, he was allegedly attacked," police said.
