After two rounds, 98 MBA seats remain vacant in state
Ahmedabad: Even after two rounds of admissions, a significant number of MBA seats remain vacant across four Centres of Excellence in Gujarat, prompting authorities to consider a third round of allotment. The state admission committee had undertaken the process to fill 280 MBA seats through the CAT (Common Admission Test), of which 214 seats were specifically earmarked under the CAT quota, accounting for 25% of total intake as announced by the institutions.A total of 847 candidates registered for these CAT-based admissions. Of these, 709 candidates appeared for the group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI) rounds conducted by the committee, while 706 candidates ultimately featured in the merit list. The second round of seat allotment concluded on April 13, with candidates given time until April 14 to confirm admissions by paying the requisite fees. However, despite the completion of both rounds, 98 seats across the four institutions remain unfilled.Officials indicated that the large number of vacant seats has led the committee to consider conducting a third round of admissions. A proposal in this regard was expected to be sent to the state govt, following which candidates lower in the CAT merit list may be offered the remaining seats.
