762cr fake bill scam: One held

Ahmedabad: Nilesh Patel, the promoter of Madhav Copper Limited, who was absconding over his alleged involvement in Rs 762 crore fake billing scam in Bhavnagar, was arrested in Surat by a team of the Gujarat anti-terrorist squad (ATS)on Tuesday morning. Patel will be handed over to Ellisbridge police station on Wednesday, where an FIR has been filed against him for his alleged involvement in a hit and run case involving SGST department officials on Saturday.Patel has been absconding since July 2021, when officials raided his factories and initiated searches suspecting tax evasion through fake billing transactions. tnn
