597 teams to restore power

Gandhinagar: Chief minister Bhupendra Patel held another meeting on Wednesday to review preparations to address potential issues caused by Cyclone Biparjoy. The government has formed 597 teams to restore electricity in areas likely to experience power disruptions because of the cyclone.
A statement from the state government said more than 47,000 persons had been moved to safer places by Wednesday evening and the evacuation of all people likely to be affected is likely to be completed by Wednesday night. According to the meteorological department, Cyclone Biparjoy is likely to cross the Kutch coastline by Thursday evening.
The statement said, “Teams of personnel from PGVCL have been assembled to restore electricity supply after the cyclone passes. Essential wire poles have been made available at all substations, and teams from other districts have been mobilized to expedite restoration.
The statement added that six NDRF teams have been stationed in Kutch, three in Devbhumi Dwarka, two each in Rajkot and Jamnagar, and one each in Junagadh, Porbandar, Gir-Somnath, Morbi, and Valsad districts. SDRF teams have been stationed in Kutch, Jamnagar, Dwarka, Junagadh, Porbandar, Gir Somnath, Morbi, Patan, Banaskantha and Surat.
