200ml milk a day for 62k anganwadi, 88k school kids

Ahmedabad: As many as 62,000 children from the city's anganwadis and 88,000 children from school boards will be given 200ml of milk every day. This was decided at the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's (AMC) standing committee meeting held on Thursday. Additionally, the proposal to build a food court at the Vastrapur Lake amphitheater was sent back to the municipal commissioner.Standing committee chairman Devang Dani stated, "AMC operates 2,135 anganwadi centres. A proposal was made to provide 200ml of milk every day to 62,263 children aged three to six years. However, we amended it to also provide 200ml of milk three days a week to children from Classes 1 to 5 in board schools. According to state govt's plan, milk will be provided in schools and anganwadis." Dani further stated, "On Sept 17, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, a week-long cleanliness programme will be launched under which several events will be held in the city. Additionally, primary facility works under the public participation scheme are being carried out in the city's societies, with increased applications from societies. Therefore, a decision was made to grant Rs 5 crore to each zone by Diwali, to be used for road, lights and sewer works in societies." According to the committee chairman, state govt has made amendments regarding parking issues in impact fee applications, leading to the reopening of previously rejected applications. "Instructions have been given to set up a system for the disposal of increasing green waste in various areas of the city. It has been decided to install solar panels on AMC buildings and construct a culvert over the sub-canal in Lambha ward, providing relief to 50,000 residents. Orders have been given to install paver blocks on sidewalks to ensure rainwater drainage," he stated.
