19-year-old stabbed to death in Ahmedabad after dispute; friend arrested
AHMEDABAD: A 19-year-old youth was allegedly stabbed to death in the Danilimda area of the city following a dispute that police believe escalated amid strained relations between the families of the victim and the accused. The deceased was identified as Amankhan Pathan.
Danilimda police registered a murder complaint on Tuesday based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, Israr Pathan, 45. Police arrested the accused, Arbaaz Maniyar, soon after the incident.
According to Danilimda police inspector C T Desai, the accused said during interrogation that the altercation began after Amankhan allegedly used derogatory language against his sister.
However, police sources said the two families had been involved in a long-standing dispute and were not on speaking terms.
According to the FIR, Amankhan was found critically injured in an open ground behind the Faisalnagar police outpost in Danilimda early on Monday morning. The victim’s father stated that when he reached the spot, Amankhan was lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds on the face, chest, ribs, hands, wrist area and back.
He was rushed to LG Hospital, where doctors declared him dead during treatment.
In his complaint, Israr Pathan stated that his son had left home around 10 am on Monday with Maniyar. The two reportedly had breakfast together before leaving the area. When Amankhan did not return home at night, the family repeatedly tried calling Maniyar, but his phone remained unanswered.
The complainant stated that family members continued calling throughout the night. On Tuesday morning, the victim’s father received a call informing him that Amankhan’s body had been found on the ground.
