Gujarat horror: 13-year-old girl abducted, attacked with sickle on private parts; dies
AHMEDABAD: A 13-year-old girl succumbed to severe injuries to her private parts, allegedly inflicted by a 35-year-old man known to her, in a village in Modasa taluka of Arvalli district.
Modasa police said the accused attacked the victim with a sickle on Dec 18. She received treatment at multiple hospitals in Modasa, Himmatnagar and Ahmedabad before she died on Friday.
Police sources claimed that the accused abducted and attacked the girl with a sickle. However, Modasa rural police inspector K T Gohil, who is investigating the case, denied the abduction claim. He said the police have registered a case of molestation and assault. The FIR has been classified as "sensitive", a category usually applied in cases involving sexual crimes.
Gohil said the accused, who was arrested shortly after the incident, attacked the victim while she was walking with her mother, and maintained that there was no rape attempt.
"The accused suddenly attacked the girl with the sickle, but the motive is not yet known," Gohil said, adding that a charge of murder will be added against the accused.
Sources in Modasa rural police said the girl was first admitted to a government hospital in Modasa and was later shifted to Himmatnagar Civil Hospital.
"She was subsequently moved to Civil Hospital in Asarwa, Ahmedabad, and later shifted back to Himmatnagar Civil Hospital. She was discharged from the Himmatnagar Civil Hospital on Dec 29 and succumbed to her injuries on Friday," a police officer said.
