Youth shot at over old enmity at a wedding function in Tajganj

AGRA: A 23-year-old youth was shot at over

old enmity

during a

wedding function

in on Wednesday night. The incident took place near the Fatehabad road under the jurisdiction of

Tajganj

police in

Agra

city. The victim, identified as Gulzaar, suffered a bullet injury in his leg after one Bilal (25)

fired

at him with a country-made pistol. The accused fled the spot immediately after firing at Gulzaar, said police.


Giving details of the incident, station house officer of Tajganj, Vinod Kumar, said, “After the incident, Bilal fled from the wedding venue. He is a notorious character and was earlier booked for creating nuisance and disturbing peace. On Wednesday night, he shot Gulzaar over an old issue. The bullet hit Gulzaar's thigh.”

“After the incident, the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital and was given first aid. A police team is conducting raids to nab the accused,” the station house officer added.

Accused Bilal was booked under IPC section 307 (attempt for murder), said police.

There have been several instances of firing during wedding function this year in and around Agra district. On the night of November 8, a wedding organiser was allegedly shot dead during wedding procession in an area under the jurisdiction of the Shikohabad police in Firozabad district.

On the evening of September 17, three people were injured in celebratory firing during the Ganpati visarjan in Farrukhabad.

On July 1, a man was hit by a stray bullet on his chest during celebratory firing at a village under Tajganj police jurisdiction.

On June 6, a youth was killed during celebratory firing in remote Pakdiya village under the jurisdiction Jahanganj police jurisdiction in Farrukhabad district.
