Agra: A local court in Firozabad sentenced two men, including the survivors' maternal uncle, to life imprisonment for the abduction and gang rape of two minor sisters in 2024. Additional sessions judge Karuna Singh also imposed a fine of Rs 2.80 lakh on convicts.
Special public prosecutor Sanjeev Kumar Sharma on Wednesday said the sisters, aged 15 and 16, were abducted from their home on Jan 29, 2024, while their mother was working in the fields. The girls' father, in his complaint, said, "My wife looked for them extensively and informed me. When I inquired, I found that a distant relative was also missing. I knew that he lured and kidnapped my daughters."
Police rescued the girls a month later and arrested the men, daily wagers, under IPC sections 376-D (gang rape) and 363 (abduction), and Pocso Act. Both remained in jail since. "After hearing both sides and examining all evidence and witnesses, the court found them guilty," added Sharma.
