SI suspended over obscene audio clip; FIR after ruckus at thana
Agra: A sub-inspector (SI) posted at Bagwala police station in Etah has been suspended after an alleged audio clip of him talking to a woman inappropriately surfaced. He was later charged with creating a ruckus and misbehaving with officers at the police station, officials said on Wednesday.Chandrashekhar Gautam (45) was suspended by SSP Shyam Narayan Singh after the woman filed a complaint and submitted the 23-minute audio clip, following which a departmental inquiry was ordered.Police said that after his suspension, Gautam allegedly created a disturbance at Bagwala police station on Tuesday evening and misbehaved with officers on duty. "An FIR has been registered against him under Sections 296 (obscene acts), 292 (public nuisance), 121(1), and 352 (voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant) of the BNS," said the SSP, adding that a departmental probe is underway.Sources said Gautam had been assigned to probe a case in July in which the woman's husband was an accused. He allegedly obtained her phone number during the investigation and called her on Jan 10. In the audio clip, he is purportedly heard using derogatory language about the woman's husband, seeking intimate personal details, and making inappropriate remarks.As per the FIR, Gautam was allegedly found intoxicated when a DSP visited the police station to inquire into the incident.
