Man accused of raping 17-yr-old; accused detained

Agra: A 32-year-old man has been detained in Mathura district after a video, purportedly showing a 17-year-old girl accusing him of raping her, was widely circulated on social media.Taking cognisance of the video that surfaced on Tuesday, police took the man into custody, and are examining a possible property dispute linked to the case. Police said following a complaint, an FIR has been registered under relevant sections of BNS.Mathura DSP Police Peetam Pal Singh told TOI, “During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused had transferred ownership of his house to the girl’s mother through a donation deed. The property has an ongoing loan of Rs 15 lakh, out of which Rs 10 lakh remains outstanding.”He added that there was an ongoing dispute between the accused and the girl’s mother over this issue and that this was being investigated. “The allegations made by the girl and her mother are being examined and the girl is undergoing a medical examination. Necessary legal action is being taken against the accused,” the DSP said.
