AGRA: A 16-year-old boy from Agra was mercilessly thrashed, tied upside down and thrown into a well once he was semi-conscious, resulting in his death, over his relationship with a girl of his age for past few months, which was opposed by her family. Three accused were arrested on Monday evening and they confessed, police said.
Chandraveer Singh, a Class 11 student, was preparing for Agniveer and was in a relationship with his ‘friend' Abhishek Singh's sister. According to police, complainant Devendra Singh stated in the FIR that his son, Chandraveer, was killed by Abhishek and his family.
SHO Kirawali, Satyaveer Singh, said, "When repeated attempts to stop Chandraveer failed, Abhishek's father, Vijay Singh, and his uncle, Rajkumar, planned to kill the boy.
They asked Abhishek, cousin Ramu, and kin Umesh to first befriend Chandraveer."
The SHO added: "After gaining Chandraveer's trust, Abhishek took him to a nearby well in a forested area on the evening of March 20, where Ramu and Umesh joined in... they threw him into the well."
Police said that Abhishek, Vijay and Ramu have been held. ACP Shailendra Kumar Singh added that efforts were on to nab Rajkumar and Umesh. An FIR was registered under sections 103 (1) (murder) and 61 (2) (criminal conspiracy) of the BNS. During questioning, Abhishek said Chandraveer was murdered as "they wanted to protect their sister's honour", police said.
