Naik also praised the varsity authorities for being the second university to organize the convocation across the state this year.
As many as 410 PhD students, 22 in Agriculture, 203 in Arts, 34 in commerce, 6 in law, 68 in Science, 28 in Education, 9 in fine arts, 1 in managements and 39 in life sciences, were awarded with degrees who have completed their doctors of philosophy in 2014-15. Around 130 M.Phil students were awarded with degrees. Three d.lit degrees were given the degrees by the governor Ram Naik during the convocation to Roopa Singh, Harish Kumar and Meera Sharma.
Charu Yadav, an MBBS student of SN Medical College was renamed as golden girl after she managed 13 medals, 12 gold and 1 silver, in various subjects of medical studies. Charu Yadav, whose father, Sarvesh Kumar Yadav is an inspector in Aligarh police gave the credit of her achievement to god and her parents. While sharing her success mantra, Charu advised the young students to not become book worm and enjoy the student life apart from studies as this will never come again in life.
Apart from Charu, 45 students were awarded with one medal, 32 students managed to two gold medals, four students received three medals and one student received four medals during the convocation.
The achievement of girls leaving the boys way behind in the academic race in fact provided Governor Ram Naik — the chancellor of state varsities — with an opportunity to give a lesson to the boys. Naik in his address said that boys should start studying else, ‘we have to start reservation for the male candidates very soon,’ he added.
Even the teachers, in fact, said that girls performing academically better had almost become a norm at the varsity. Last year the girls had won majority of gold medals in D.lit, PhD and M.Phil and their number has increased this time.

“Even last year the maximum number of awards was registered by the female students. They work harder than the boys and obviously deserve the accolades. I believe that Indian girls get the opportunity to study very late and they are incashing it very well,” said Kamla Dixit, official in varsity administration.
UP Governor Ram Naik during the chancellor’s address claimed that all the 25 universities across the state are pacing ahead in providing quality education to the students. He added that Dr BR Ambedkar University, formerly known as Agra University, is a prestigious educational institution which has produced two prime ministers, a president and several other top grade politicians who paved a way for the developments and new ideologies hence students of the varsity must aim big. Former PMs Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Chaudhary Charan Singh and former President Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma are the alumni of the Dr BR Ambedkar University.
Director of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), DP Singh who was the chief guest of the occasion delivered the special speech for the convocation in which he advised the students to treat the world as home. He also asked the students to become advanced with the changing technology but remain in touch with the ground too.
