Former SP MLA sacked for supporting AIMIM

FIROZABAD: Former MLA and ex-district president of

Firozabad Samajwadi Party

unit, Azim Bhai, was dismissed from the party by Akhilesh Yadav for supporting All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) candidate Masroor Fatima in the mayoral election.

Fatima received 56,536 votes and stood second while the SP candidate was third. The current district president, Ramsewak Yadav, has also resigned after the high command’s order.

Azim Bhai, who contested MLA elections from Firozabad seat, on SP tickets, and won in 2002 said, “It’s a double standard of party leaders, who did not take any action against other defectors like Shivpal Singh Yadav.”

“Party leaders have been targeting me since 2014 and even insulted me during civic body elections. Hence I had no option but to support the other party. I wholeheartedly welcome my dismissal from party and will now decide my future political career,” he added.
