AGRA

: The health department has lodged a complaint against the owner of a private hospital in

Trans Yamuna

locality for reopening it a month after it was sealed by health authorities for not being registered with the health department.

An FIR was lodged against the owner of the hospital, “Ganesh”, located in

Kalindi Vihar

locality of Agra under section 15(3) of the Indian Medical Council Act, which entails a prison term of upto one year or a fine upto Rs 1000, or both. On April 13, the hospital was sealed by a team led by the assistant chief medical officer (ACMO), Dr Ajay Kapoor. During the inspection, the owner of the hospital had failed to produce registration documents.

Official sources said that they had also found untrained staff treating patients at the hospital.

ACMO Kapoor

said, “The health department has taken action against 10 unregistered hospitals and clinics for the last two months and the drive to seal unregistered clinics would continue till the end of April. Hospitals have been asked to renew their registrations by the end of the month.”
