Agra: Two people died and four others were injured on Monday after their car collided with a truck on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Agra's Chitrahat area. The victims, residents of Agra's Fatehabad, were returning home after taking a holy dip at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
The deceased have been identified as Mahendra Pratap Singh, 50, and his wife Bhoori Devi, 48. The injured include Arvind Kumari, in his 60s, Pinki, 35, Sevaram, 40, and Rekha, 35.
The collision severely damaged the car, and police, with the help of locals, rescued the injured. They were taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Bah, where Mahendra and Bhoori succumbed to their injuries. The remaining four were later shifted to Agra's SN Medical College due to the severity of their injuries.
"A team from Chitrahat police station reached the spot and admitted all the injured to the hospital. During treatment, one man and one woman died. The police are carrying out the necessary legal proceedings," an Agra Police official said.
Earlier, on Jan 27, a Delhi couple and their two children were killed in a similar accident on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in the Fatehabad area. The family, residents of Uttam Nagar in Delhi, was also returning from the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
