BIJNOR: A constable posted at Haldaur police station in Bijnor was suspended on Thursday for allegedly giving false information about cow slaughter to the emergency helpline to settle a personal rivalry.
SP Abhishek Jha said, “Constable Gulam Murtaza, a resident of Buchi village under Sheeshgarh police station in Bareilly, called Dial 112 on March 28 around 9 pm, claiming cattle were tied at a house in Bareilly for illegal slaughter.”
Acting on the alert, a team from Sheeshgarh police station in Bareilly reached the spot, but the claim was found to be false during verification.
A preliminary inquiry revealed that the constable had fabricated the tip-off due to local political rivalry and personal motives. Officials said the false information not only misused emergency services but also risked creating tension in the area.
Taking serious note of the misconduct, SP Jha ordered his immediate suspension under departmental rules for spreading misinformation, misleading the police, and indiscipline.
