Agra: Lok Sabha MP and Azad Samaj Party chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the UP govt while addressing the "Save Constitutional Rights, Build Brotherhood" rally at the GIC ground in Agra, alleging poor law and order and lack of safety for women.
Aazad also targeted the BJP-led state govt over the incident involving the Shankaracharya in Prayagraj, condemning the episode and expressing his support for the seer. He also accused the govt of ‘dividing society in the name of religion' and criticised the administration for denying permission for the rally at Ram Leela Maidan.
Aazad said opposition to University Grants Commission's newly notified Promotion of Equity in Higher Education Institutions Regulations, 2026, was coming only from those who "exploit children based caste" and warned that his party would protest if the decision was rolled back under pressure.
Aazad appealed to people to support the Party, promising affordable healthcare, employment, free education and withdrawal of false cases against party workers if his party forms the govt. Later, he thanked the people of Agra in a post on X for making the rally a success.
