Agitated villagers pelted stones and stopped the truck but the driver managed to flee the spot.
Talking to TOI, Hathras superintendent of police Dileep Srivastava said that a case has been registered in this regard. They also seized the truck. The other students who sustained minor injuries were discharged after giving first aid.
Chetan’s death has come as a double blow for his parents Lokesh Sisodiya and Manjesh. Lokesh had lost both arms in 2006 after a high tension wire fell on him while he was working in the field. “I lost my arms earlier but with Chetan gone, life seems to have ended for me," he told TOI. He said that Chetan’s presence and his innocent smile used to bring cheer in their otherwise despondent lives.
Manjesh said that she wouldn’t have allowed Chetan to go to school if she knew that such a tragedy was in store. She added that she couldn’t even bid a final ‘good bye’ to her son.
