6 children saved from trafficking attempt on Sabarmati Express, 2 held
Agra: Six children from Bihar, allegedly being trafficked to Gujarat for labour, were rescued from a general coach of Sabarmati Jansadharan Express (15269) at Agra Fort railway station, police said on Sunday. Two men from Bihar have been arrested in connection with the case.Officials said the children, aged between 12 and 15 years, were rescued Friday during a joint inspection drive by Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Bachpan Bachao Andolan representatives under Action Against Human Trafficking (AAHT) campaign. The minors were handed over to Childline India for care and protection.Officials said the team grew suspicious of the group of children travelling under questionable circumstances, leading to their rescue. RPF inspector Priyavart Dahiya said, "A case has been registered against Chuman Kumar, 28, and Kamleshwar Yadav, 35, both residents of East Champaran district in Bihar, under section 143 (trafficking) of BNS. The two suspects have been arrested and sent to jail."Police said the accused admitted to luring the children with money and taking them to Gujarat for labour work. The rescued minors will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee for further proceedings, while an investigation is underway to uncover a broader network involved in the trafficking racket.
