Agra: Two people died in separate storm-related incidents in Aligarh and Muzaffarnagar districts late on Wednesday as thunderstorms swept across
Uttar Pradesh.
In Aligarh, a 35-year-old security guard died after the roof of a check post collapsed during the storm at a cement factory under Jawan police station limits.
Police said the incident took place around 12.30am while Indrajeet was on duty at the factory entrance. The force of the storm brought down the structure, trapping him under the debris. Factory staff and residents rushed him to JN Medical College, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. He is survived by his wife and four-year-old daughter.
DSP Sarvam Singh said, "The body was sent for postmortem. No police complaint was lodged by the family."
In a separate incident in Muzaffarnagar's Charthawal area, a 30-year-old labourer working at a brick kiln died after allegedly losing balance and falling from a height of nearly 12 ft during strong winds. Charthawal SHO Satyanarayan Dhaiya said
Ajay Kumar suffered fatal injuries and died on the spot.
