19-year-old girl raped on pretext of marriage

AGRA: A 19-year-old girl, hailing from Asansol, West Bengal, has accused a 23-year-old youth Shubham Agarwal from Vrindavan, of allegedly raping her after promising marriage.
In her complaint to the police, the girl has alleged that Shubham befriended her on facebook two years ago and developed physical relations with her on promise of marrying her. She has alleged that recently he refused to keep up his promise, following which she decided to lodge a complaint against him.
According to the victim, the accused, Shubham, a BCom student got in touch with her on the social media networking site a couple of years ago and subsequently brought her to Vrindavan.She has alleged that he developed physical relations with her on the promise of marrying her soon.
Cases under various sections of IPC, including 376 (Punishment for Rape) and 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 34, have been registered against the accused, who is presently absconding.
Talking to TOI, Ashok Kumar, SP (city) Mathura, said the girl’s statement has been recorded and efforts are being made to nab the accused.
