Two Tripura jail officials booked for helping lifer to escape

Agartala: Police launched an investigation based on the FIR lodged on Wednesday against two jail staff, including the guard commander of the Central Correctional Home in Tripura for allegedly aiding a lifer’s escape, reports Biswendu Bhattacharjee.
Swarna Kumar Tripura (32), a member of the banned militant outfit — National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) — escaped from the Central Correctional Home in Bishalgarh of Sepahijala district on Tuesday morning and is still untraced.
Nobody has been arrested yet. Preliminary investigation indicated a suspicious role of warder Tapan Rupini and guard commander of Kendriya Sansodhanagar, Md Mafiz Mia.
