Tripura CM sets record of travelling 7,850km in 40 days for poll campaigning

Agartala: Tripura chief minister Manik Saha set a record of surface travelling of 7,850 km in distance in 40 days in the state during the campaigning for the Lok Sabha election to two parliamentary constituencies and for a Assembl bypoll seat, besides holding rallies in West Bengal for the BJP candidates in the first and the second phases of elections.
According to the CM’s secretariat, Saha began the poll campaign in Tripura on March 16 as soon as the ECI had announced the election schedule.
He took part in 30 public rallies, 18 roadshows, and seven “padayatra” in the run-up to the elections to two Lok Sabha seats and Assembly bypolls to Ramnagar seat till April 24.
In contrast to his predecessors Biplab Kumar Deb and Manik Sarkar, who always preferred to opt for helicopter journeys even around Agartala, Saha availed passenger trains for travelling to Unakoti and North Tripura districts and cars for South Tripura, Gomati, Sepahijala, and West Tripura.
Demonstrating his dedication, Saha also walked 28 km during the campaign to reach out to the voters in the villages.
