Agartala: Chief minister Manik Saha on Friday gave away Ipads to 202 toppers of different subjects and categories in last year’s Madhyamik and HS exams under the Tripura Board of Secondary Education under the aegis of Chief Minister’s Academic Excellence Award.
In a separate event, Saha handed over the Chief Minister’s Civil Service Awards to 14 senior government officers for their outstanding performance while the rural development department of Tripura has been awarded as the best-performing department as part of the celebration of Civil Service Day 2023.
Addressing the students at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, the CM expressed concern over the growing cases of drug abuse among the students here and reiterated that the Tripura government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy for drugs and narcotics abuse and illicit trafficking, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed to fight tooth and nail against drugs.
He advised the students to get involved in sports, cultural and philanthropic activities besides studies to stay away from all unwanted activities and addiction to negative things. “Belief in God and meditation help the body and mind to be focused on the subjects, which we intend to take up. This is equally important for students, teachers and professionals,” Saha said.
The best prize among the government departments went to Tripura Gramin Jibika Mission under the rural development department for empowering women through advancement of loans to women self-help groups followed by a joint award to the education and science and technology departments.
