Tripura BJP leader joins CPM

AGARTALA: In a major jolt to the saffron party in Tripura, BJP Yuba Morcha's South district president Anupam Chakraborty joined the CPM along with frontline activists Manish Dey and Amalendu Chakraborty at Belonia on Wednesday.
The joining of three Yuba Morcha leaders to the ruling party assumes significance as it comes at a time when BJP is desperate to topple the Left Front government in the next assembly elections slated for early next year.Tapas Datta, CPM's South district secretary, welcomed the newcomers.
Anupam, who had played a key role for BJP in the Belonia sub-division, alleged, "The BJP government has been fooling the people in the name of good governance. Helping this party to gain ground in Tripura means inviting danger."
