Agartala: Over 12,000 patients from Tripura have received treatment under the PM Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and CM Jan Arogya Yojana (CM-JAY) in various hospitals across the country over the past six years, chief minister Manik Saha said on Wednesday.
He pointed out that payments totalling Rs 198 crore to different hospitals, which provided treatment to the people of Tripura, have already been settled under both schemes.
The Central govt announced PM-JAY as Ayushman Bharat in 2018 to ensure free treatment in a large number of listed hospitals for the poor. “After five years, it was found that around 4.5 lakh families in the state were not eligible for PM-JAY benefits. Last year, the Tripura govt launched a similar health scheme, CM-JAY, for the excluded families with all the facilities of the central scheme, which has become very popular in the last few months,” Saha said.
He revealed that under PM-JAY, claims worth Rs 195.89 crore have been settled, benefiting 3,43,985 people in Tripura. The total number of beneficiaries under the scheme has reached 15,35,364 in the state. To cover those ineligible for PM-JAY, the state govt launched CM-JAY in February this year. The state scheme offers similar benefits, providing cashless treatment to around 12,000 patients, with claims worth Rs 2.20 crore settled so far. Saha also highlighted the success of the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), which has digitised health records, making them accessible to healthcare professionals from anywhere in the country. This has reduced the burden on patients and ensured proper medical care.
