Kia Carnival MPV, EV9 Electric SUV Launch LIVE Updates: Expected price, features, images and more

The EV9 features a dual-screen for the touchscreen infotainment system and instrument cluster. Features include an illuminated steering wheel, dual sunroofs, HUD display, second-row captain seats with electric adjustment, a massage function, a digital IRVM, a V2L, a 14-speaker Meridian audio system, a digital key, OTA updates, an electrically adjustable steering wheel, six USB Type-C charging ports, three-zone climate control, and much more.

In terms of features, the Carnival gets dual 12.3-inch curved displays for infotainment and instrument cluster, three-zone climate control, a head-up display, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car tech, a 4-spoke steering wheel, dual electric sunroofs, second-row captain seats with heating and ventilation, a 12-way powered driver’s seat, powered tailgate, power sliding rear doors and much more. In terms of safety, it gets 8 airbags, disc brakes on all four wheels, ESC, Hill Assist Control, TPMS, VSM, front, rear and side parking sensors, and an ADAS Level 2 tech.

The new Carnival is offered with a 7-seat (2+2+3) configuration. The second row will get captain seats, and the third row will feature a bench seat. The Limousine variant gets manual sliding and reclining functions for the second-row seats, whereas the top-of-the-line Limousine Plus variant gets electric adjustment along with ventilation.

The third-gen Kia Carnival was sold in India until its discontinuation in June 2023 and the fourth generation Carnival received a facelift in November last year globally, and is now launched in India. The MPV will be bought to India via CBU-route (completely built unit) hence it's priced over Rs 63 lakh. The local assembly is expected to begin a little later, which means the price will be bought down.

The Kia EV9 will offer an ARAI-certified range of 561km on a single full charge. The big 99.8kWh lithium ion battery can be charged from 10-80 percent in 24 minutes with a DC fast charger. The EV9 will also support 800 volts of fast charging that will allow for 239 km of range from a 15 minute charge. Using vehicle-to-load feature the battery can be used as an energy reservoir to power devices.

The Kia EV9 will be powered with by a 99.8kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It will be paired with dual electric motors and will also get an all-wheel drive configuration. Combined, the dual motors produce 384hp of power and 700Nm of peak torque. Kia claims that the EV9 SUV can sprint from 0-100kph in 5.3 seconds. It's also expected to get multiple drive modes such as Eco, Normal, Sport and terrain modes such as Sand, Snow and much more.

The Kia Carnival will be offered in two variants - Limousine and Limousine Plus. The EV9 EV SUV will be offered in a single fully-loaded GT-Line trim with a standard 6-seat layout. The EV9 is expected to carry price tag of Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom) and the prices for Carnival MPV is expected to begin from Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). Since both models are expected to come via CBU route, they will attract hefty import taxes.

In terms of dimensions, the EV9 SUV measures 5,015mm in length, 1,980mm in width, stands 1,780mm tall and has a wheelbase of 3,100mm.

The EV9 features boxy shoulders with sharp and angular fenders. The front fascia of the Kia EV9 is being referred to as the ‘Digital Tiger Face’. Kia also highlights the embedded lighting patterns inside the front bumper.

Other design highlights of the Carnival include 18-inch alloy wheels, functional roof rails, shark fin antenna, integrated roof spoiler, silver skid plate and the C-pillar features a silver chrome inset that joins the chrome garnish at the bottom of the rear windscreen.

Talking about the Carnival MPV's design first, The new Carnival is based on Kia’s global design language and features a signature tiger-nose grille flanked by vertically stacked LED headlamps with L-shaped LED DRLs. At the rear, it gets connected to LED taillights with L-shaped insignia.

The Kia Carnival in its fourth generation is expected to come to India via the CBU route and is expected to carry a price tag of more than Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). The EV9 too will be bought to India via CBU route and is expected to be priced from 75 lakh (ex-showroom).
