Man granted bail after proving his citizenship

AGARTALA: A local court here has granted bail to man who had allegedly entered India from Bangladesh without valid documents.
Police arrested Ajam Khan alias Raju Chowdhury after his wife Nasima Khatun lodged a complaint against him. Raju has produced a number of valid Indian documents, including Adhar card, to prove his citizenship in court.
Raju's counsel Mrinal Kanti Biswas dismissed charges that Raju was a Bangladeshi.He added that his father's name was registered in Indian documents way back in 1957.
However, SDPO (Sadar) Suman Majumdar said, "Raju was arrested from Akhaura Road Wednesday. During interrogation, he admitted that he worked with the Bangladesh Army as a rifleman but deserted it during training."
