‘Loans, salaries, pension putting pressure on Tripura finances’

Agartala: The Tripura government has been facing growing pressure of committed expenditure on salaries of employees, pensions of retired employees and interest payment of loans over the years, which has created uncertainty over providing jobs to the unemployed and managing the impending crisis, said a senior minister of the second BJP-led government on condition of anonymity on Tuesday.
The minister said the state’s expenses on salaries and wages have risen to Rs 463.52 crore in four years during the first BJP-led government because of revising the pay matrix of employees on a par with 7th Central Pay Commission.
