All these 88 paintings are done in oil, which I have done while touring these cities. I selected four cities and had done 22 paintings in each city.<br /><br /><span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">When will Kolkata witness this exhibition?</span><br /><br />Kolkata will witness this from August 2 at Galerie 88 and it will be the first city to host this exhibition.<br /><br /><span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">Why have you chosen Kolkata as the first venue?</span><br /><br />The exhibition is to mark my 88th birthday. The exhibition will showcase 88 paintings. And Galerie 88 also has the same numerical configuration. Hence the decision.<br /><br /><span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">How is this exhibition going to be different from your previous exhibitions?</span><br /><br />Unlike my previous exhibitions, this exhibition is going to showcase such paintings which have no subject or issue. These are based on purely aesthetic issues. The idea is to go back to the roots of painting or an attempt to look for the basic elements of painting. In the last 40 years, I have worked with mixed medium. But this time I have worked totally with oil. Moreover, I have never done so many paintings at a stretch.<br /><br /><span style="" font-weight:="" bold="">I finished these 88 paintings in six weeks After Gajagamini, what will be your next film?</span><br /><br />My second film, Meenakshi, A Tale of Three Cities is almost ready. The heroine of this film is Tabu.</div> </div>
