Vaishali Samant, Singer, On her plans to sing rock and pop numbers in Bengali. After the success of Aika Dajiba and other remix albums do you have any plan to sing in Bengali? Yes, I am planning to sing in Bengali. Presently I am listening to various Rabindrasangeet albums and other popular Bengali numbers. Why are you planning to sing in Bengali? Apart from Hindi and Marathi, I have already sung in various other languages like Gujarati, Bhojpuri, Assamese, Tamil and Telugu.Bengali is a very sweet language and I would love to sing in Bengali. I believe that language cannot be a barrier for a singer. Kolkata is a very happening place now. Lots of rock shows are taking place everyday in Kolkata and other parts of Bengal. So, I believe that my Bengali rock and pop numbers will be popular here. Do you want a separate identity apart from being known as 'queen of remixes'? I like it when people call me the queen of remixes. But in remixes, video matters most, not the singer. Therefore, I want a separate identity as an original artiste and Aika Dajiba, my debut album is my first attempt to come out as an original singer apart from being known as a remix artist. As a singer, what is your ultimate goal in life? Hindi playback singing is the ultimate goal in my life. I have already sung for a music composer like A.R.Rehman in Lagaan, Taal, Tujhe Meri Kasam, Kaise Kahun Pyar Hai and more recently Saathiya. I have also sung for music composers like Ismail Darbar and Viju Shah. Have you got any big offer recently for playback singing? I have got an offer from music composer Daboo Malik for the film Dehle Pe Nehla. There are some other offers too,which I cannot disclose right now.
