Yukta Mookhey, Former Miss World, on shying away from the spotlight.
You have been missing in action for some time now?
I have been very much here. It's just that I don't like to talk about and push myself in the limelight. I believe in letting my work do the talking.
But is that not a drawback in the entertainment world?
Perhaps, but if you are good at what you do and confident about yourself then nothing else matters.
1x1 polls

Do you feel that compared to the other beauty queens, you had a raw deal from the industry?
When I was crowned Miss World, I also had a lot of offers from big banners but none of them were substantial roles.
I was not game for a script that just required me to show up and stand in one corner all dressed up.
What are you working on right now?

I have finished two films and I am currently working on a music album. But this will not be a run-ofthe-mill music product. I am trained in classical music and my album will be along those lines. That apart, I am also interested in television.
What draws you to that medium?
The fact that there are such strong roles for women being written for television. In films, you get roles written for you only after you have made a mark. But in television, there are no such distinctions.
What do you do in your free time?
I love to read. And whenever I get time I do yoga and meditate as well.
