You’re going to a party, who do you call? Kavita: your skinny, sexy best friend, who gets the attention. Or Vandana: your loyal, not-so-pretty friend from childhood days. Wherever you go, you get the attention.
Fact is, the less attractive friend will have this façade that she doesn’t care about her looks.

The message is clear: the qualities that make Jane plain — her realism, steadiness and willingness to share — are in fact the constants that men crave.
The glamour girl, meanwhile, can be left stranded. Says actor Pooja Bedi, “Hanging out with a well-polished woman gives a kind of first-hand practical experience and information to those girls who are not good at it. Unfashionable may get fashionable, but this friendship is phony and temporary.”
And yet, according to romantic literature, it is more often than not the sidekicks, the less dazzling girls, who get the happy ending.
Socialite Shivani Wazir Pasrich says, “If the focal point of friendship is just looks, then your pretty looking friend will be not able to offer you anything beyond the beauty tips.”
Dr Sandeep Vohra, senior psychiatrist opines, “Two pretty girls cannot be best friends for too long. A stunner will be more comfortable with an average-looking girl.”
