Honeywell plans to plant a million trees
Close to 1,500 Honeywell employees in India have participated and have clocked more than 4,500 hours cumulatively towards the company’s ‘Plant the Future’ initiative. The engineering company’s objective is to plant a million trees across 10 cities. The target for the current year is to plant 1. 2 lakh trees by the end of April next year. More than 20,000 saplings have already been planted in Bengaluru and Pune.
Shrishail V Kalburgi, senior advanced systems engineer at Honeywell Technology Solutions, notes that year after year we are losing green cover due to imperative development projects.
“It is a challenging task but not impractical to balance conservation and development. Development should happen on the basis of conservation and sustainability. Volunteering activities are like a get-together outdoor activity by all our colleagues and our family members, but for a cause that is noble and the need of the hour,” he says.
