CII sets its eyes on teen entrepreneurs

BENGALURU: Teen entrepreneurs across sectors will be supported and mentored by industry association Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as part of its innovation programme. Kris Gopalakrishnan, Infosys co-founder and chairman of CII's India Innovation Summit, said India needs to create an ecosystem of knowledge for the country to create more intellectual property and innovation.

The teen programme is sponsored by 3M India.

"Innovation has to become routine and methodical for us to rise up in the innovation rankings," Gopalakrishnan said, pointing out that India is still ranked at 60 by a study conducted by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). CII will help entrepreneurs in diverse sectors like agriculture, manufacturing and services sector. CII is also organising a discussion on the challenges of automation and the future role of human labour as part of its annual Innovation Summit on July 13 & 14.

"We have been working on a multipoint agenda to include the larger society for inclusive growth,” said Kamal Bali, chairman, CII Karnataka.
