Zuno General Insurance appointed lead insurer for Goa
Mumbai: Zuno General Insurance (formerly Edelweiss General) has got the mandate from the insurance regulator be the lead insurer for to promote accessible and affordable insurance for the state of Goa.
As the lead insurer for Goa, Zuno General Insurance has to enhance insurance reach and accessibility, focusing on life and health protection, natural calamities, MSMEs, and employment.
The concept of lead insurer for a state was initiated by the regulator to increase insurance penetration as part of its vision of `insurance for all by 2047”
Pooja Yadav, CPO at Zuno General Insurance, said that with an insurance penetration ratio of 4.0 as of March 31, 2021, and approximately 40% of vehicles being uninsured, there is a significant opportunity to provide financial protection to Goans.
“Goa's literacy rate and poverty rate indicate potential for increased insurance awareness. Motor insurance dominates the market, followed by fire, property, and marine cargo insurance,” the company said in a statement.
The company plans to launch targeted programs for specific groups such as fishermen, rural and women self-help groups, MSMEs, and uninsured vehicle owners. Zuno GI started in 2018, has over 3 million customers, and collaborates with various partners in the digital space.
