Vietjet to begin direct flight between Kochi and Ho Chi Minh City

KOCHI: Improving the connectivity between Kerala and Vietnam, Vietnamese airline Vietjet will soon start direct flight services between Kochi and Ho Chi Minh City. The new services will begin on August 12. The new route was announced at a function in Kochi that was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai, state government officer on special duty and former ambassador Venu Rajamony, Vietjet Vice President of Commerce Jay L Lingeswara.

The first-ever direct route from Kerala to Vietnam marks an important milestone for the development of Kochi airport and the tourism industry of the two countries. With the new services, Vietjet will have 32 Vietnam-India flights. It is expected to further promote tourism, economic and trade cooperation, and development of bilateral relations between Vietnam and India.

Thanh Hai said that the opening of the route connecting Kochi and Ho Chi Minh City by Vietjet is a breakthrough, creating a new impetus for economic - trade - tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between Viet Nam and South India.

The Kochi – HCMC route will be operated with a frequency of 4 flights/week on every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. The flights from Kochi will depart at 11:50pm (local time) and land in Ho Chi Minh City at 6:40am (local time). The return flights will depart from Ho Chi Minh City at 7:20 pm (local time) and arrive in Kochi at 10:50pm (local time).
