), Delhi-based apex body representing inbound tour operators, has elected Rajiv Mehra of Uday Tours and Travels as its president and with an executive council.

IATO says the polls for these positions were delayed by 10 months due to Covid.

Rajiv Mehra said: “…these are one of the most trying times for the inbound tourism industry. Covid-19 has devastative impact on our industry with several of our tour operator brethren finding it almost impossible to continue being in the profession. It would be our endeavour to support the members and represent to the

government

to take steps to mitigate their suffering and increase the flow of foreign tourists in the country. We will continue follow up with government on pending issue like release of SEIS for 2019/20 financial year, opening of E –tourist visas , International flights and other issues.”

He added: “Our country has huge tourism potential as much as that it easily on its own it can contribute two percent growth to India’s GDP. All we need is collective action from Centre, state governments and tourism bodies. We will strive to work together with different stakeholders to work towards achieving this goal.”
