NEW DELHI: About 55% India Inc. recruiters struggle to find skilled developers from the LGBTQ+ work group, according to a study conduced by TechGig.

The study observed the hiring and employee engagement patterns for LGBTQ+ developers at tech companies.

41% of respondents said that attrition is higher among LGBTQ+ developers as compared to male and female programmers. About 33% of respondents found no difference in the attrition levels based on genders, and the remaining 26% said that more men and women developers tend to leave jobs more often than LGBTQ+ developers.

Most firms offer company-sponsored upskilling opportunities to retain queer talent. In an effort to retain developers from the LGBTQ+ group, many firms offer company-sponsored upskilling opportunities. Other popular retention tools are offering career growth chances and financial aid for wellbeing.

Recruiters prefer job sites for hiring queer developers. 52% of respondents said that they turn to job boards and websites to hire LGBTQ+ developers. About 19% of respondents said they scouted pride communities, and an equal fraction of respondents said that they ask for referrals when hiring LGBTQ+ developers.

55% of respondents said their firm's peer support groups were ‘very active, holding meetings and proceedings regularly’. About 35% said that their pride groups were inactive. 10% of the respondents said that pride groups at their firm were moderately active, holding meetings and proceedings periodically.
