PUNE: Vinod Dasari, joint managing director, Cummins India Ltd (CIL) will leave the engine manufacturer by the end of the month. The announcement was made internally to senior company officials last week, on February 24.
"I am looking at several options and I could stay in Pune," Mr Dasari said, confirming his decision to leave. "My ambitions and the opportunities in Cummins India do not align: for growth in Cummins, I would have had to go back to the US.
We came back to India so that our children could grow up here, with Indian values," he explained.
Mr Dasari was with CIL for three years, having come here from the US, where he worked with Timken. He was with the global bearings company for ten years, in India and the US.
While Mr Dasari said he was unaware over the appointment of a successor, well informed sources indicated the successor would come from the US.
"I am unaware of any moves regarding my successor but in the interim, everyone will report to Anant Talaulicar, chairman and joint managing director, CIL," Mr Dasari said.
The sources added that CIL, which has a superannuation policy of 55 years for managers, could see some senior management officials moving out. The rest of industry has a superannuation age limit of 58 years, hence the movement would be to take advantage of the higher limit.
