on Tuesday forayed into the electric two-electric segment, zooming in the
Chetak electric
at Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The disc brake variant will cost Rs 1.15 lakh(ex-showroom).
The e-scooter can be booked paying Rs 2,000 from tomorrow through the company's website. Apart from the website, Chetak electric can also be bought at 13 dealerships in Bangalore and four in Pune. Deliveries are set to start from February.
Chetak electric gets a metallic frame, drawing resemblance with the iconic Chetak, which was discontinued 14 years ago. The e-scooter will be available in six colour options. Available in two model ranges - Urbane and Premium - the former comes in two colour schemes and latter in four colours. Both use the same powertrain with a key differentiating element being a drum brake on the lower variant (Urbane).
Chetak electric features full digital instrumentation, which on pairing with smartphone app displays battery stats, inform the owner about unauthorized access and more. The company is also offering a one-year data subscription free with the e-scooter.
The IP67-rated 3 kWh (48V, 60.3 AH) lithium-ion battery, with a charging time up five hours. The battery will have a three-year/50,000 km warranty on it. The new Chetak will be powered by a 4kW electric motor, delivering 16 Nm peak torque.
Bajaj Auto claims Chetak electric will offer 95+ km range in eco mode and 85+ km in the sport mode. The electric scooter features a kick-down mode that comes into play when it senses the need for the extra power to overtake vehicles.
